CV
Born in Verona in 1972, Iva Recchia studied arts at secondary school and then attended the Academy of Fine Arts (1990 – 1992 Venice, 1992 – 1994 Verona), specializing in painting, where she graduated with the thesis “Ambiguity in art”, supervised by prof. Roberto Sanesi. After her studies, she cooperated as assistant with the painter Vincenzo Balsamo (1996 – 2003) and the sculptors Miguel Berrocal (1998) and Sergio Capellini (2001). Besides devoting herself to painting, since 2005 she has been teaching at the open course of drawing at the Instituto d’arte P. Brenzoni (Sant’Ambrogio di Verona) and has been working as assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts G. B. Cignaroli in Verona (Courses of painting and painting’s techniques, Prof. Davide Antolini, 2009 – 2010).
PHILOSOPHY
The human world is a huge and falsely circumscribed field of action, where several aspects converge to subdue Nature itself, in its entirety and complexity. Facing it means trying to understand, inside and outside us, all its poetry and terror. His elusiveness coincides with an unending lack of contours and a flaking of the shape, where the background and the subject blend in the same apparent consistence.
TECHNIQUES
Oil, acrylic, mixed techniques on canvas, canvas panel, paper.
